OUR MISSION
Meeting The Needs of a Growing Community
Founded in 2000, East Cape Health provides high-quality medical, dental, pediatric, optical and specialist care to those living in and visiting the East Cape. We improve the quality of life for local families through early detection and treatment of infection and disease. We provide medical and dental care to all children and families regardless of their ability to pay.

Every life has an equal value. It doesn’t matter if your family is rich or poor, privileged or not, every child should have the same opportunities for happiness and success. We have discovered our calling and take great pride in being able to make a difference in our community. We are a registered non-profit in both the US and Mexico, and all our received donations qualify as tax-deductible gifts.
OUR HISTORY
Paradise fine-tuned. New East Cape Clinic opened to serve all levels of needs.
East Cape Health Center is Located in Plaza Libertad, Los Barriles
It's not an uncommon story. For one reason or another, an individual finds himself/herself settled in a land that fulfills their idea of Paradise. Charlene D. Wenger is such a person.
When she first arrived in Los Barriles in the late 90s, she had found the perfect place to live. It wasn't long before she realized that even Paradise could be improved with a bit of fine-tuning.
A registered nurse by profession, Char began volunteering as an assistant to a local physician in early 2000. She wanted to make a difference in the community. Little did she know that the simple act of volunteering would take her!
In 2002, a 32 years old worker about to begin painting her house collapsed and required resuscitation. There wasn't even a tank of oxygen available. Subsequently, the worker died as a result of a stroke from hypertension, which had not been properly diagnosed. It was apparent that essential equipment and medical supplies were woefully lacking.
Soon, the wheels were put in motion to form a non-profit organization to service the East Cape area. Char helped guide the paperwork through the layering of Mexican Law. After months of hard work and frustration, THE EAST CAPE COMMUNITY URGENT CARE CLINIC, A.C. became reality.
Donations were solicited to begin developing a Community Clinic, complete with a full staff of a bilingual physician, registered nurse and support people. After a careful cost analysis of the property building, equipment and staffing, it became clear that the economic requirement were greater than could be supported by local donations.
During the next several years, physician were interviewed and hospitals and clinic toured in search of the ideal formula that would allow the East Cape Community to have the non-profit and medical care it needed. Meanwhile, the donations collected were used to treat the EC community children and elderly. CPR classes and immunizations clinic were provided.

Nowadays
"People helping people"
The past two years have been extremely difficult, but we have managed to keep our doors open to serve the community. We consciously monitor the CDC guidelines and the Secretaria de Salud protocols to avoid the spread of the COVID-19 virus that has impacted our area. The benefactors of our social programs are from low-income families who otherwise could not afford quality medical care, diagnostics, X-ray, and lab studies. By dedicating 1 or 2 days a week exclusively for children's dental care and education, we improve the understanding of good oral health of children.
Despite the pandemia, we have still seen over 1,000 children in East Cape Dental under our hygiene, restoration, and extraction dental program, and to help 1,200 children and low-income families with medical and dental attention, lab works, x-rays, specialist attention and even medicines.
Thanks to the support and partnership with different associations, East Cape Community Urgent Care Clinic, A.C. is committed to serving our East Cape community with the best medical and dental care available in BCS. All lower-income children and families will receive medical and dental care at very low or no cost to the family.
If you are interested in giving back to the local community, please consider donating. You can do it through different means, PayPal, bank transfer, through our different partners or directly in our clinic.
Take some time to come and meet us, we are happy to receive visits, opinions and above all, to be able to help.
