Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy · Los Barriles
Breathe better.
Restore your energy.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy allows patients to breathe oxygen in a controlled environment with pressure greater than normal atmosphere. These conditions increase the availability of oxygen in the body and support its delivery to different tissues.
Every treatment begins with a specialized medical evaluation - the first step is understanding your individual case, not booking a course.

How it works
Pressure increases the oxygen available to your body.
During a session, the patient remains inside a specially designed chamber where pressure is gradually increased in a controlled manner. Breathing oxygen under these conditions temporarily increases the amount of oxygen available to the body and supports its distribution to different tissues.
Oxygen, essential to the body
Oxygen plays an important role in the natural processes involved in tissue maintenance, repair and recovery.
A controlled environment
Pressure rises and returns to normal gradually, following an established protocol, so the process stays controlled and supervised throughout.
Guided by your evaluation
Depending on each patient's individual needs, and always under medical guidance, the process may help support tissue oxygenation and the body's natural repair processes.
Every person has different needs and medical circumstances. For this reason, hyperbaric oxygen therapy should only be considered after a specialized medical evaluation.
Before your first session
Your treatment begins with a specialized medical evaluation.
Before undergoing a hyperbaric chamber session, the first step is a consultation with our specialized physician. This evaluation reviews medical history, current health status, medications, individual needs and treatment goals - so the physician can determine whether hyperbaric oxygen therapy is appropriate for you and, when indicated, establish an individualized protocol.
There is no single protocol that applies to every patient. When hyperbaric oxygen therapy is indicated, the number of sessions, frequency, duration and follow-up are determined according to the evaluation and your individual progress.
Start with the initial evaluation form
You can begin before your visit. The form takes about 10 minutes and covers your reason for consultation, current condition, relevant medical history, current treatments and treatment goals - so the physician can review your case beforehand and focus the assessment.
What it's actually like
A session, step by step.
Most people are surprised by how ordinary it is. You lie down, you breathe, and you wait it out.
1
Instructions
Before entering the chamber, our staff provides the instructions needed to help ensure the procedure is carried out appropriately.
2
Pressure increases
Once inside, the chamber pressurizes gradually and safely according to your protocol. The shift is so subtle you won't notice the individual increments, creating a calm, relaxing environment throughout your session.
3
During the session
The patient remains inside the chamber while following the established protocol, supervised throughout.
4
Slow return
At the end of treatment, pressure gradually returns to normal levels before the patient exits the chamber.
5
A supervised experience
Throughout the process, established protocols are followed to provide a controlled, supervised and comfortable experience.
Our chamber & team
A complementary therapy, not a replacement for your doctor.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy should be understood as part of a comprehensive approach to care. It does not replace medical consultation, diagnosis, medication, procedures or other treatments recommended by your treating physician. When considered appropriate, it may be incorporated into a broader care plan based on your individual needs and goals.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is designed to work in synergy with your healthcare team, not replace it. Rather than replacing medical consultation, diagnosis, medications, or surgical procedures, our therapies actively complement them. This integrative approach helps enhance the body’s natural healing cascade - accelerating recovery from athletic injuries, open wounds, burns, and vascular issues so you can repair tissue faster and regain optimal function.
Part of comprehensive care
Hyperbaric therapy is one part of Functional Health.
We don’t offer hyperbaric oxygen therapy in isolation.
At East Cape Functional Health, it is woven into a wider, tailored strategy across four distinct areas:
-
Hyperbaric Chamber
-
IV Therapy
-
Medical Evaluation
-
Nutrition Wellness
Every plan begins with a specialized medical evaluation. Your physician reviews your medical history, current health status, medications, individual needs and treatment goals, and then determines which parts of our care are appropriate for you.
There is no single protocol that applies to every patient. When a therapy is indicated, the number of sessions, frequency, duration and follow up are set according to that evaluation and your individual progress.
Functional Health is meant to be understood as part of a comprehensive approach to care. It does not replace medical consultation, diagnosis, medication, procedures or other treatments recommended by your treating physician.
